The Washington Center Announces Recipients of the Fall 2005 Women Leaders Award

The Washington Center is pleased to announce the following recipients of its Fall 2005 Women Leaders Awards: Erin Burns of Guilford College, Suzanne Catterson of Buena Vista University, Ashley Daigneault of the University of Rhode Island; Kathryn Foss of the University of New Hampshire, Sarah Goldman of Cornell College, Victoria Grasela of Westfield State College, Amanda Green of Elon University, Kelly Larsen of Iowa State University; Jaqueline Martin of Tiffin University; Megan Murray of Saint Bonaventure University, Kristen Packet of the University of Tennessee; Sandra Peotrowski of Seton Hall University; Chloe Shuman of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell; Rachel Sondag of Dickinson College; and Vanessa Van Auken of Texas Christian University.

As part of its ongoing commitment to promote leadership development among college students and recent graduates, The Washington Center names up to 15 Women Leaders Award recipients each semester. They are chosen competitively on the basis of academic performance, record of citizen involvement, and demonstrated leadership.

Students are placed in a broad range of internships according to their academic and professional interests, and may enroll in any program at The Washington Center. Their semester at The Washington Center includes an internship, academic coursework, and participation in The Washington Forum, which includes the Presidential Lecture Series, the Verizon Congressional Speaker Series, the Embassy Visits Program, and small group activities such as briefings, tours, and workshops.

 

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is an independent, nonprofit educational organization founded in 1975. Its mission is to prepare college and university students for civic leadership through experiential education. In this way, The Washington Center seeks to promote future leadership for the public, private and nonprofit sectors of society. Applications for fall 2008 semester, quarter and postgraduate still accepted on a space-available basis.

Competitive deadline for Spring 2009 Semester, Winter and Spring Quarters and Postgraduate is September 29, 2008.

Early deadline range for Summer 2009 Term, Quarter and Postgraduate begins September 29, 2008.

Regular deadline for Spring 2009 Semester, Winter and Spring Quarters and Postgraduate is November 15, 2008.
