TWC Students Experience the Republican National Convention

The threat of Hurricane Isaac could not damper the spirits of the 138 students attending the Republican National Convention Academic Seminar. The students, who travelled from over 60 institutions from across the country to Tampa, Florida, were treated to a brilliant and insightful week of speakers, panels and programming. It was not all work and no play as these students had the opportunity to explore Ybor City, attend a variety of receptions and had the opportunity to know each other on a more personal level during their small group sessions.

 

The Ultimate Boston ARC Event: Reuniting at a Red Sox Game

The Boston Alumni Regional Committee (ARC) hosted their fourth annual networking happy hour and Boston Red Sox game on Thursday, July 19th.  Over 40 Washington Center alumni from the Boston, Massachusetts area gathered for an evening of food, drinks, networking and of course: BASEBALL!

 

Daryl Popper, 2008 alumnus and coordinator of the event said: “It was wonderful making connections with new and familiar faces. I look forward to keeping this tradition alive for years to come and look forward to next year's annual gathering at Fenway.”

TWC Alum and CBS Corporation Sr. VP Hosts Lunch for Interns

For the second time this semester, TWC hosted a Lunch Series event at the CBS Corporation in Washington, D.C. The July 20th event featured John Orlando, senior vice president of the CBS Corporation's Washington, D.C. office. He is responsible for the oversight, formulation and implementation of CBS's public policy and government relations' objectives. Mr. Orlando is also a 1976 alumnus of TWC, one of the first of over 50,000 alumni all over the world. He remarked that:  "My internship at TWC was one of the most life-changing experiences I had.

Public Policy Panel Discusses What It Takes To Be A D.C. Lobbyist
