Students Speak out against Domestic Violence on Capitol Hill

This semester, 23 students in the Domestic Violence Civic Engagement Project are visiting Capitol Hill to support renewal of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which has been instrumental in dramatically reducing domestic violence since it was passed by Congress in 1994.

 

Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony

Over 450 students, who came from across the U.S. and over 17 countries, celebrated the completion of their academic internship program this fall during an hour-long commencement ceremony at the Blinken Auditorium. Students, staff members and alumni gathered to reminisce about achievements and memories made since fall interns arrived at the end of the summer.

Massachusetts Students Meet Rep. Barney Frank

TWC interns from Massachusetts met with Representative Barney Frank’s legislative staff at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.  The students, who attend the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Bridgewater State University, and Dean College, spoke with the congressman’s staff about various concerns and policy issues concerning their district, such as the new transit line in the fourth district and the fisherman’s initiative. One student also gave the staff a letter for the congressman to sign.
