Last week, TWC held the Spring 2013 Roundtable on Civil Society and Social Responsibility. Spring interns had the opportunity to hear from a wonderful keynote speaker and 5 professionals who came from a diversity of backgrounds and represent a number of major corporations and foundations. This particular event is held each semester with the intent of familiarizing interns with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunities.

Keynote Address- "Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies for Success"

Prudential students from Brazil, China, Japan, India, South Korea, and Taiwan gathered at the Prudential Washington, D.C. Office to meet with top-level officials.

TWC actively works with its alumni to provide students with a series of opportunities to learn about different industries during a special lunch series. Whitmer and Worrall, LLC hosted the most recent lunch event.

The Prudential Foundation Global Citizens Program, a cohort of 26 international students from India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, attended a two-day site visit from April 19-20 at Prudential Financial headquarters in Newark, New Jersey.

The students were competitively selected for this program to represent their countries. They had the opportunity to meet with and learn from a number of Prudential executives during their trip including:

Prudential’s Washington D.C. office formally welcomed another cohort of Prudential Foundation Global Citizens scholars from India, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan on February 13, 2012. Prudential executives spoke about their experiences with the company and the partnership that Prudential Foundation has created with The Washington Center over the past three years. The students heard from:

TWC students enjoyed a special presentation by Takanori Sonoda, the Vice President of Government Relations for Honda North America. Sonoda, who joined Honda in 1977 and has extensive experience both domestically and internationally, shared some of the challenges and successes he has faced during his tenure. He spoke about:

Christopher Cooper, the CEO and Chairman of International Investments for Prudential, welcomed the spring 2012 Prudential Global Citizens Program participants and provided professional advice.

Making the Most of Your Time

Mr. Cooper expanded on his own realizations to explain how to make the most of every work experience:

After meeting with the President of Brazil, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Franciso Sanchez, met with TWC students participating in the Governors and Prudential programs at TWC's Residential and Academic Facility. He discussed key topics such as competitiveness, innovation, economic growth and access.
