Why were animal lovers from the Humane Society University, a Deputy Police Chief from Alexandria, Virginia, advocates for domestic violence victims, a gay men’s rights activist and a torture survivor from Ethiopia all gathered at TWC the morning of December 18th? On September 22nd, students went to Brier's Mill Run in Riverdale, Maryland to remove trash and debris that pollute the nearby streams. This project was arranged through the Anacostia Watershed Society, one of Local Green’s community partners.
Over the past two weeks, students in the Local Green Civic Engagement Project participated in three service projects, which have aided in making DC both greener and more environmentally friendly.
