Greg Selinger, Premier of Manitoba, was the featured guest of a special Sunday Public Policy Dialogues on Capitol Hill (PPDCH) event. The PPDCH events are part of The Washington Center's Internship Programs. More than 60 students, both international and domestic, attended his presentation at TWC's Residential Academic Facility, where the premier spoke on the topic of the role of subnational governments around the world. 12 young and promising Korean students from Seoul National University (SNU) met with leaders in the Korean-American community during the 2012 Global Talent Program's networking reception. Guests included Mr. Soon Koo Yoon, Consul General from the Korean Embassy, who was the featured keynote speaker of the night.
The Fall 2012 International Festival took place in the Blinken Auditorium for the eighth time since TWC's Student Services and International Team launched the first one in the spring of 2009. The goal of the event is to provide international students with an opportunity to showcase cultural aspects from their home countries. The night included a number of activities including:
The Political Leadership, Law and Criminal Justice and International Affairs Programs hosted "Perspectives on International Trade," a panel which exposed TWC's summer interns to career paths in subject areas like International Economics, International Trade, Finance and International Relations. The event took place at the Blinken Auditorium and provided each attendee with the opportunity to gain insight on a diversity of positions, which the panelists either hold currently or in the past.

Each semester, students from all over the 50 states have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of Congress or Senate who represent their state or congressional district through the PPDCH program. Unfortunately for international students, they can't participate in this unique opportunity. That is why the PPDCH program put together a special PPDCH program for Canadian students on April 16th at the RAF.

Prudential’s Washington D.C. office formally welcomed another cohort of Prudential Foundation Global Citizens scholars from India, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan on February 13, 2012. Prudential executives spoke about their experiences with the company and the partnership that Prudential Foundation has created with The Washington Center over the past three years. The students heard from:
Regina Davis Izaguirre, a TWC Governors Program alumna (who is also married to a fellow TWC alum), celebrated the opening of her new art exhibit, "Departed Souls." If you love art and would like to go support the talented and self-educated artist, Regina's paintings will be on display at Piola through June 8th, 2012.
TWC students enjoyed a special presentation by Takanori Sonoda, the Vice President of Government Relations for Honda North America. Sonoda, who joined Honda in 1977 and has extensive experience both domestically and internationally, shared some of the challenges and successes he has faced during his tenure. He spoke about:
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) celebrated its new partnership with Panama’s National Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Innovation on March 5, 2012. Also known as the U.S.-Panama Innovation & Competitiveness Initiative, the partnership will enable Panamanian students to come to Washington, D.C. and participate in unique and transformational opportunities.
The agreement will support the participation of students in the following programs:
