Spring 2013 Career Boot Camp

As a part of TWC's Leadership Forum, spring interns had an opportunity to hear from a panel of recruiting experts at this semester's Career Boot Camp, held at the National Association of Home Builders during the second week of their program. Panelists answered questions submitted by TWC interns on topics such as job search and networking tips, resume, cover letter and interview best practices, and advice for those considering graduate school.

The Fall 2012 International Festival took place in the Blinken Auditorium for the eighth time since TWC's Student Services and International Team launched the first one in the spring of 2009. TWC Alum and CBS Corporation Sr. VP Hosts Lunch for Interns

For the second time this semester, TWC hosted a Lunch Series event at the CBS Corporation in Washington, D.C. The July 20th event featured John Orlando, senior vice president of the CBS Corporation's Washington, D.C. office. He is responsible for the oversight, formulation and implementation of CBS's public policy and government relations' objectives. Mr. Orlando is also a 1976 alumnus of TWC, one of the first of over 50,000 alumni all over the world. He remarked that:  "My internship at TWC was one of the most life-changing experiences I had.

The Washington Center’s spring semester Career Boot Camp took place on February 6, 2012 at the National Housing Center in Washington, D.C. The keynote speaker was TWC Chief Operating Office, Jennifer Clinton, who offered advice on various aspects of the interview process.

 

Students also watched a TED Talk by author and motivational speaker Simon Sinek on "How Great Leaders Inspire Action" and were then sent off to participate in two panels of their choice. Panels included:

 

2012 International Festival

The 2012 International Festival was a huge success. Taking place in the Blinken Auditorium and classrooms located at the TWC's Residential Academic Facility, the event lasted for 4 hours of fun and excitement. From great food to elaborative cultural performances, the International Festival allowed TWC interns from all over the world to exemplify what the meaning of diversity truly is.
