TWC celebrated its 4th Annual Alumni Holiday party at headquarters with more than 60 attendees including fall interns, staff and alumni.

Civic Engagement Exhibits

Fall 2012 interns presented the Civic Engagement projects they had participated in, where they were able to share milestones and memories from the semester. Civic Engagement Exhibits from the night highlighted several projects including:

Domestic Violence

An estimated 34 million people are living with HIV or AIDS, with a large number of this population residing in Sub-Saharan Africa. In an effort to help battle this deadly disease, TWC’s LGBTQA Civic Engagement Project raised over $600 for the Whitman Walker Health’s AIDS Walk. The event took place at the Freedom Plaza on Saturday, October 27th.

On March 28, 2012, TWC interns from Wisconsin met with Congressman Sensenbrenner and his legislative director, Amy Bos, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. The students, who attend Alvernia University, Regis University and University of Iowa, spoke with the congressman and his staff about policy issues such as:

• Energy/Gas Prices in Wisconsin

• Homelessness
