Governors' Internship Program

This program combines a four-days-per-week internship with a full day of project development and management activities. It provides future leaders from different Mexican states professional and academic training in areas related to the economic and social development of their communities. Participants develop a project that impacts and improves the well-being of their regions by attracting investment or by representing a product or an industry.

Prudential Foundation Global Citizens Program

This program is designed for students interested in learning more about the financial role of the private, government, and nonprofit sectors in the U.S. and around the world. It provides them with an opportunity to work with and interact with key players and experts in areas such as business environment, corporate responsibility and ethics, and the intersections of business and government.

Students Already Attending a U.S. Institution

International students attending a U.S. institution do not normally need a visa from The Washington Center. Most students come with their OPT or current F-1 or J-1 visa, as long as it is valid until the last day of The Washington Center program.

Programs by Country

The Washington Center has built relationships with institutions or government agencies in many countries. These relationships create a smooth pathway to interning in the U.S. Students from these countries are encouraged to speak with their school representatives about coming to Washington, D.C., and interning through TWC.

Ford Global Scholars Program

This program enables 10 international students and 20 students from the United States to acquire skills for promoting sustainable development around the world during the fall semester. Sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, this program combines a four-days-per-week internship with a full day of educational activities based on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. This program is restricted to students from Brazil, India, Russia, South Africa and China.

Internships in the United StatesInternships at The Washington Center are open to university students from all around the world. TWC is committed to being a place of cultural diversity, and every semester between 15 and 20 percent of our student body comes from other countries. Over the last 16 years, nearly 2,500 students from 35 countries have come to study and work in Washington, D.C.
