When is the program?The program begins at 9:00 am, Monday, June 6, 2011 and ends approximately 1:00 pm on Friday, June 10.

 

Fees

Registration Fee for Faculty Seminar: Road to the White House The cost of the program is $1,495. This includes registration and text materials, refreshments, some brown bag lunches and formal dining events with invited speakers. Housing is not included, but participants may contact The Washington Center for information about room blocs available. Participants are advised to book their accommodations early.

 

Final payment is due by May 23, 2011.

Speakers

Faculty Leader: Dr. John Splaine, University of MarylandDr. John Splaine earned his bachelor's and master's degree in American History from the University of New Hampshire, and holds a doctorate in education from Boston University. In 1973 he joined the College of Education faculty in education policy and leadership until retirement in 2001 as associate professor emeritus. He accepted a position at the University of Denver, where he held the Amos B. Hostetter, Jr., Chair. He taught courses in political communication until his retirement from there in 2003.

Topics & Components

Topics & ComponentsRoad to the White House: Faculty Seminar will combine a series of lectures, discussions, site visits, tours and briefings to allow for faculty to interact with individuals who are experienced with presidential campaigns. In some cases, the participants may serve as the audience for a C-SPAN program. Time will be set aside for faculty to share their ideas with each other on teaching related topics as well as to reflect on the day’s topics and experiences.
