“Mei-Hua Connection" Newsletter: Second Edition

“Dajia hao” and welcome to the second edition of the “Mei-Hua” Connection Newsletter!

Entering the 9th week of our internships in Washington D.C., the Boeing Fellows have fully acclimated to life in D.C. while immersing themselves in its varied cultural and professional work environment. Lessons have been learned, best practices have been taken note of and pictures have been taken in the hundreds. Out of this learning experience have come new perspectives and more importantly new, empowered voices which can be heard in the following articles.

In our second edition of “Mei-Hua” Connection, you’ll hear from three students. In “Combating Sinomania: Downplaying Democracy in U.S. Foreign Policy towards China,” Yifei Li, a student from Fudan University in China, discusses the implications of Smart Power on the U.S – China political and economic relationship. Nathan Gardner, a student from the University of Washington and author of “Getting the Dragon to Go Green,” highlights the opportunities for foreign companies to bring green technology into China and create “green jobs” for American workers. Marketa Ostadalova, a student from the Czech Republic, discusses the current financial crisis and the consequences for China in the article, “China Forum.”

Please enjoy the collaborative efforts put forth by the Boeing program participants.

Sincerely,

Heather Zauner, Editor
Washington University, St. Louis
