Financial Support

The Washington Center is committed to providing leadership opportunities for career-minded students. Our ability to attract a diverse population of highly qualified candidates is enhanced by internship sites that provide financial assistance to help meet the costs of a semester in Washington . The financial assistance provided is considered part of the students' overall Washington Center financial aid package.

Government Agencies

The Washington Center holds a General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedule contract. Government agencies can work through the Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) to take advantage of The Washington Center’s recruitment and internal placement of undergraduate and graduate student interns.

Agencies can find The Washington Center on the Human Resources/EEO Services, Recruitment Schedule 738-X. The Federal Supply Schedule's Multiple Award Schedule program is the premier government acquisition program in place today. It is the fastest, easiest, and most effective contracting vehicle available, designed to help customer agencies comply with all the rules and regulations to buy products and services.

By working through the GSA's Federal Supply Schedule, government agencies can take advantage of a number of discount opportunities. The Washington Center 's new contract number is GS-02F-0078P. On-line access to contract ordering information, terms and conditions, up-to-date pricing, and the option to create an electronic delivery order are available through GSA Advantage!, a menu-driven database system. The Internet address for GSA Advantage! is: www.GSAAdvantage.gov

For more information on ordering from Federal Supply Schedules click on the FSS Schedules button at http://www.fss.gsa.gov

Private Sector and Non-Profit Organizations

The Washington Center provides thousands of dollars worth of scholarships every year to help students offset the cost of participation. For example, The Washington Center collaborates with states, cities and U.S. territories that appropriate funds in various amounts for tuition scholarships to our programs. However, The Washington Center asks participating agencies that benefit from the internship program to join in the effort to make this life-changing opportunity accessible to all students by providing a Sponsorship Fee for each intern who works with your organization. Not only do organizations receive a tremendous benefit from high-quality interns who work 30 - 36 hours a week, but agencies also greatly benefit from the work TWC does to recruit, screen, select, place, mentor and supervise student participants.

Suggested Sponsorship Fees

It is understandable that not every organization is able to compensate students at the government rate.  To request a copy of our suggested rates, contact TWC at 202-238-7900. Organizations typically pay The Washington Center directly. TWC then pays the student on a bi-weekly basis.  In order for TWC to continue to provide top-notch recruitment, outreach, screening, and supervision to students and agencies, we ask that a percentage (roughly 30%) of the sponsorship fee go to cover the expenses for services provided.
