Position Description

This Admissions Coordinator contributes to initiatives in Marketing and Communications, particularly those that support recruitment for the Academic Internship Program and Academic Seminars. He/she works with the Manager, Marketing and Communications to develop and implement outreach plans and leverages technology, including TWC’s mass email platform, CRM and other tools, to execute our student communications strategies.


  • Contribute to communications strategy to support recruitment efforts for the Academic Internship Program and Academic Seminars.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Marketing & Communications to draft, edit, test and send emails to leads and students with applications in progress.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Marketing & Communications to evaluate the success of various marketing initiatives.
  • Manage email marketing calendar for leads and students with in-progress applications.
  • Build and test reports used to send mass emails to leads and students with in-progress applications.
  • Serve as main point person on ExactTarget when training needs arise within department.
  • Manage campus visit communication workflow, including deployment of visit announcements and welcome emails.
  • Assist recruiters with the creation of flyers to promote campus visits.
  • Coordinate with other members of Communications Department to promote campus visits via social media.
  • Manage application process, selection and orientation of student bloggers. Serve as first point of contact for bloggers and manage blogger payment.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Marketing & Communications to train bloggers and edit blog content.
  • Conduct recruitment visits at 3 to 5 affiliated colleges and universities each semester.
  • Review submitted applications according to the admissions timeline, making prompt and thorough admissions decisions.
  • Assist with intake and entry of student prospect data.
  • Assist as needed with shared admissions-related customer service channels, including general email, web-based LiveChat operation and phone inquiries.
  • Execute phone calls to applicants who have begun an application for Academic Internship Program/Academic Seminars and encourage them to submit, tracking progress in CRM.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience writing for a publication on a frequent basis and working under deadline preferredExperience working with college students or in a higher education setting preferred
  • Past work with email campaigns (including understanding of best practices and analytics) preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM system preferred
  • Participation in The Washington Center or a similar internship program a plus
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to adopt the appropriate style, tone, and voice for various types of content.
  • Willingness to take on any and all projects with enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability and strong desire to provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate extremely well, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to manage multiple detailed projects and work collaboratively
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and around deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Proficiency in MS Office with strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Valid driver’s license

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
