WASHINGTON - October 21, 2009 - Businesses recognized across the globe were honored for their dedication to experiential education of the next generation at Gala 2009: In Service of a Nation, hosted by The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) on October 19, 2009 at the National Building Museum.
“Our corporate sponsors make it possible for students to test-drive their careers in the nation’s capital, getting real-life work experience to ensure success after college,” said Mike Smith, President of The Washington Center. “In today’s increasingly competitive job market, it’s nice to work with companies that are dedicated to the success of the next generation.”
Corporate sponsors have benefited students like Melinda Abraham, who is interning for the Wireless Communication Association International. She has gained valuable experience in marketing and rebranding, while completing civic engagement projects with Model U.N. and MTV’s Rock the Vote.
Gala 2009’s presenting sponsor was the Ford Motor Company.
